The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has committed to producing a Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality by the end of 2015. The Bank has prepared a draft Strategy document and is now wanting to carry out consultations with external stakeholders so as to obtain their input, prior to the final draft being sent to the Board of Directors for their consideration. The final approved Gender Strategy will be published on the Bank’s website, along with a report on public comments and how they were taken into account. The Strategy should be approved by the Banks's Board by the end of December 2015.

The Bank is therefore inviting its clients, civil society organisations, members of public and other interested stakeholders to participate in the public consultation meetings on EBRD’s draft Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality (the “gender strategy” or “strategy”).

Turkish, French, Russian and Arabic versions will be published on the EBRD website starting from the end of August (see here).

To ensure participation of all interested parties in the public consultation process and secure optimal quality of the inputs to the strategy, the EBRD is organising six half- day regional public consultation meetings to be held in Amman (Jordan), Rabat (Morocco), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Istanbul (Turkey), Ankara (Turkey), and London (UK), as follows:

Almaty: Wednesday, 7 October 2015

Istanbul: Wednesday, 7 October 2015

Ankara: Friday, 9 October 2015

London: Monday, 12 October 2015

The Working Languages of the Meetings will be as follows:

English: London

French, English: Rabat

Russian, English: Almaty

Arabic, English: Amman

Turkish, English: Istanbul, Ankara

Venue: The venues of the meetings will be announced at a later stage of the registration process.

Registration: Participation in the stakeholder consultation is open to all interested individuals/organisations who are kindly asked to register online here by 27 August 2015.

The deadline for registration for London meeting was extended till October 7, 2015!

Financial support: The EBRD has made available limited financial support to enable selected civil society representatives to attend a public meeting. The selection criteria of those receiving financial assistance have been agreed and the selection process of civil society representatives has been fully delegated to and will be carried out by the Regional Environmental Center (REC).
